A look at the projects we’re currently supporting… work that’s still in progress, still unfolding, and taking shape in real time.
Opening at the Nicolaysen Contemporary Art Museum // Oct 2027
Scrap
Scrap is a collaborative exhibition between Mikey Franco and Bria Hammock, two Wyoming artists exploring grit through material that was never meant to make it this far. Built from handmade snowboards originally deemed unridable, the work moves through carving, printmaking, and altered surfaces to examine what happens when failure, wear, and imperfection are carried forward instead of discarded.
At the center of the project is a quieter understanding of grit. Not toughness for the sake of toughness, but persistence. Staying with the material. Seeing value in something after its intended purpose has fallen apart. Every crack, warp, interruption, and inconsistency becomes part of the final piece, turning cast-off objects into work that feels physical, layered, and deeply human.
Present Tense
Projected exhibit opening in 2028
This in-progress project takes a statewide look at contemporary agriculture and ranching in the Mountain West. It’s being built through time spent on the road and in the field, talking with the people carrying on generational work while also reshaping what that work looks like today.
Present Tense lives in that space between legacy and change, explored through contemporary painting, printmaking, and supporting photo, audio, and video work.
Fieldwork commencing in June 2026.
