Our work starts with a mission.

The Modern West Project exists to give artists and storytellers the space to document the West as it is now… through modern, creative work rooted in real people, land, and lived experience.

We aim to preserve what’s real, question what’s assumed, and build a deeper understanding of the American West over time.

01
Artist Support

Providing funding, space, and structure for artists and storytellers to pursue meaningful, place-based work.

02
Field-Driven Work

Projects are rooted in time spent in the field. Engaging directly with the people, land, and realities shaping the West.

03
Modern Storytelling

Championing contemporary approaches to documenting the West through art, narrative, and creative practice.
